Orange and Ginger Syrup

Ingredients

  • zest of 1 orange

  • 1 ball stem ginger, chopped, plus 1tsp syrup from the jar

  • 240ml Water

  • 200g sugar

Equipment

  • Chopping board and knife

  • Small saucepan

  • Fine sieve

  • Sterilised bottle

Method

  • Heat water and sugar in a saucepan until fully dissolved.

  • Add the orange peel and ginger to the solution and stir.

  • Bring to just below the boil and simmer gently for 15 minutes.

  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool before straining through a cheesecloth lined sieve into a sterile bottle.

  • Can be store up to 1 month at fridge temperature.
